One chart → everything you hand out on the day

Build the seating chart once, then export the things people actually use at the event. The free plan generates every one of these (with a small watermark) — Pro removes it for clean, print-ready files.

The fastest way to lay out a real event

Most online seating chart makers are repurposed diagram tools — they give you shapes, you give them everything else. Seat Chart App is the opposite. The tool knows what a round table is, knows it has eight seats, knows seat three is empty, and updates the printable guest list automatically when you drop a name in.

Real table presets

Round eight and ten-tops, banquet rectangulars, square four-tops, classroom rows, theater rows. Drop one onto the canvas and the seats are already positioned correctly.

Drag, rotate, duplicate

Move tables with your mouse or your thumb. Rotate when the floor plan demands it. Duplicate a fully assigned classroom row in one click.

PDF that prints

Export to US Letter or A4. The PDF includes the chart, a guest list grouped by table, and crisp text — print it for the venue, email it to the day-of coordinator.

How to make a seating chart

  1. 1

    Drop your tables

Pick a preset — round eight-top, banquet ten-top, classroom row, theater row — and drop it onto the canvas. Drag to position. Most weddings fit on one canvas; you can zoom for larger venues.

  2. 2

    Assign guests

Click any seat and type the guest's name. The seat fills with their initials so you can read the chart from across the room.

  3. 3

    Export a clean PDF

Hit Export PDF. The chart prints on US Letter with a guest list under it, ready for the day-of coordinator or the venue.

Built for the events people actually run

The presets and printable layouts come from real use cases. Pick the one closest to yours — the tool below is pre-loaded for that event type, so you start halfway there.

Frequently asked questions

Is this seating chart maker really free?
Yes. The free plan covers one event with up to five tables and thirty seats, drag-and-drop layout, guest-name assignment, and a watermarked PDF export. That's enough for most small weddings, baby showers, conference panels, and classrooms. Upgrade to Pro only if you need unlimited tables, multiple events, or a watermark-free PDF.
How long does it take to build a chart?
Five minutes for a typical wedding (15 round tables, 120 guests) once you have the guest list ready. The drag-and-drop is built to feel fast — drop a table preset, drag it where you want it, click a seat, type the name. Repeat. You can also duplicate a fully assigned table when you have several identical sets, which cuts time on classroom and theater rows in half.
Can I export a PDF and print it?
Yes — every plan includes PDF export. The free PDF includes a small watermark across the page and a footer line. Seat Chart App Pro removes the watermark, exports at print resolution, and includes a per-table guest list under the chart for the venue or your day-of coordinator. Both versions print clean on US Letter and A4.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. The canvas, the table presets, and the guest-assignment popover are all touch-friendly. We test the tool on iPhone 12 (375px wide) and modern Android. For laying out a 30-table wedding we still recommend a laptop, but mobile is fully functional for review, edits, and showing the chart to anyone on the spot.
What's the difference between Seat Chart App and Canva?
Canva is a general design tool. You can technically draw seats in Canva, but you're working with shapes — not a model that knows how many people are at each table. Seat Chart App understands tables and seats as objects, so seat counts, guest assignments, and the printable guest list update automatically. If you're laying out a real event with real names, that difference saves an hour you'd otherwise spend reshuffling shapes.
What file types can I export?
PDF on every plan. Pro adds high-resolution PNG and a CSV export of the assigned guest list grouped by table — useful for sending to caterers, day-of coordinators, or printing escort cards.
